The Salvation Army (120 W. 14th Street) between 6th and 7th avenues. The worship services are at 9:30AM and at 5:00PM.  

Yes, there will be a children's program on Sundays for the AM service only. Children's program will take place in Railton Hall at The Salvation Army. Check-in will begin at 9AM each Sunday morning. More information about our Downtown Children's Ministry can be found HERE.

What it means to affiliate with one of our congregations is to join closely with others who are working towards those same ends: transformative community, celebratory worship and self-giving mission to renew the City, whether you are part of the East Side, West Side or Downtown congregations.

A congregation exists not because of one or several pastors or a church staff. It exists because the people of God are empowered by the Spirit of God to worship and serve Him in a particular place and time. In our case, the place is Downtown and the time is now.

We currently have a little over 3,200 people living south of 24th street in our database. Of the 3,200 people, around 400 people live in Chelsea.

In Redeemer's RENEW campaign - the campaign to transition Redeemer to one Redeemer, three congregations - we had planned to gather and "incubate" the Downtown Congregation for some period of time at Hunter College or W83 for worship services until funding was secured for a location Downtown.

In the last year, hundreds of energized congregants from Catalyst Nights and Labs, volunteer opportunities serving Downtown and Community Groups had formed a critical mass ready to serve and worship in Downtown. Excited by this momentum, we began exploring the possibility of launching Sunday worship services, in Downtown, earlier than anticipated.

We were also offered an annoymous matching grant of a million dollars to aid in the acceleration of the congregation. With the ourpouring of gifts from the East and West Side Congregations and our own Downtown residents, we were able to meet the challenge and exceed the match. Without the sacrificial gifts of so many who gave to the Downtown Challenge, the Downtown Congregation would not be able to launch and begin serving our neighborhood.

Over the last 20 years, Redeemer has occupied a unique space in New York City. We've seen God change individual lives and the communal and cultural landscape of our city, through a gospel that radically reorients the ways that we approach God, relate to one another and interact with the city around us.

The collegiate model is about moving away from one Redeemer to becoming three unique Redeemer congregations located on the East Side, West Side and Downtown. The purpose of this is for the body of believers at Redeemer to become more deeply ingrained and connected to the City than we have ever been. The East and West Side congregations have officially launched and we are already beginning to see the fruit of their presence on the East and West Sides. And now, we are preparing to bring to life the Downtown Congregation.

Karen Dolan: Children's Ministry Director
A native of sunny Tempe, Arizona, Karen moved to New York in the Spring of 2008 armed with a BA in Education and ready to take on the schools of New York. After a teaching stint at two public schools in the Bronx, Karen decided to use her teaching background to pursue a masters degree in School Counseling. While working towards her Masters, Karen began working with Redeemer children's ministries as a Sunday School and mom's group teacher, and has worked with a multitude of Redeemer families. Karen joined Redeemer Downtown in March 2013.  She loves downtown, children, and their families and is thrilled to be a part of what God is doing here. Karen loves riding her bike to far flung locales such as City Island, New Jersey and Coney Island; basically anywhere with a food-focused destination.

Drew Hammell: Operations and Volunteers Manager
Drew grew up in South Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University where he met his wife, Nancy.  Before starting full time at Redeemer, he worked at the J.Crew and Equinox corporate offices where he specialized in facilities management.  Drew also serves as a deacon and loves listening to house music, running, walking his dog Dexter, and watching pretty much any sport on TV.  His favorite place to hang out downtown is Cielo on Little West 12th St.

Harrison Hollingsworth: AM Music Director
Harrison was raised in suburban Texas and grew up in the church. At 18 years old, he moved to Center City Philadelphia for music school and attended Tenth Presbyterian Church, his first exposure to city ministry. His severe culture shock was cushioned by a church that loved students and loved the city. Harrison joined Redeemer in 2008 when he came to New York to play Principal Bassoon at the NYC Ballet. God took him through an amazing discipleship journey, led by a combination of the preaching, leading a community group, and the courtship of the woman who soon became his wife. Harrison's hope for Downtown is that we will bring the healing power of the gospel to lower Manhattan in word AND deed, and that we worship on Sundays in a way that both edifies the church and attracts seekers and skeptics to our community.

Mark Lau: PM Music Director
A graduate of Manhattan School of Music, Mark grew up in Sydney, Australia and has lived on the Lower East Side since 2003. Mark and his wife Helen have been married for 11 years and have two children, Jack (4) and Jonah (2). When he is not playing music, Mark spends his time lamenting on the woeful state of the Australian cricket team and rumbling his two boys.

John Lin: Lead Pastor
A graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, John grew up in Boston and came to New York City in 2002. Prior to coming to Redeemer, he worked as the English ministry pastor at a Korean-American church in Hartford, Connecticut. Since moving to New York, John has had a deep affinity for all things Downtown, including food, people and culture... and food. John and his wife Kyoko have been married for 7 years and have two children, Sophie (2) and Ichiro (9 mo.). When he is not doing pastoral ministry, John spends time following the Boston Red Sox, thinking about travel to far-flung locales, and taking pictures of his kids.

Susan Nacorda: Community Group Director
A Southern California native, Susan came to the city for adventure and to study Business at New York University in 2001. She worked for a hip hop magazine before entering vocational ministry in 2005 to work for a discipleship and evangelism focused college ministry called, The Navigators. A natural people gatherer, fun maker and risk taker, Susan has loved serving with college students Downtown for the past 7 years. She joined Redeemer's Community Group team in 2009 and is excited to be a part of launching a congregation near where she lives, works and plays. In her free time, Susan listens to a lot of live music, gives out "Free Hugs", tries to cook, rides her bike, and climbs often with her friends near her apartment in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Amy Roebke: Children's Ministry Specialist
Amy joined the Children's Ministry staff at Redeemer in 2009 shortly after receiving her MA from Covenant Theological Seminary. Prior to working in children's ministry she spent over 10 years working with middle and high school students in other ministries domestically and internationally. Her innovative thinking and adventurous spirit has lead her to start a camp, lead initiatives at Redeemer, and consult ministries globally. If you don't see Amy running in a park she is either at the local coffee shop, near the water, or on a plane to her next adventure.

Josh Simmons: Ministry Manager
Josh grew up in Tennessee and spent 9 years in South Carolina for college and post-college. In May 2010, Josh and his wife, Meggie, packed up a Penske truck with all of their belongings and their neurotic dog, Dexter, and headed to the city. In October of that same year they found out that Meggie was pregnant. A move from South Carolina to NYC wasn't a big enough change for them. Since being in the city all of Josh's work has been Downtown so he has come to really love this area and the people there. Josh loves spending time with his family in Prospect Park, going to new restaurants, music and concerts, and working from a standing desk.

Jeff White: Assistant Pastor
A graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary, Jeff started his ministry at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia and then went on to serve as the first associate pastor at Redeemer from 1990 –1998. At Redeemer, he oversaw community formation through fellowship groups before moving on to become the organizing pastor of New Song Community Church, a multi-ethnic, church-based community development effort in Harlem. Jeff is very excited to have rejoined the staff of Redeemer to launch and serve in the Downtown Congregation. Jeff and his wife, Rebecca, have been married for 27 years and have three children, Kirsten (22), Corina (20) and Andrew (17). Prior to entering the ministry Jeff worked as a physical therapist, played Riff in his high school's production of West Side Story, and aspired to be a point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. He thinks the golf course is a great place to do pastoral ministry (hint,hint!).

Joe Yu: Community Group intern
After completing his B.S. in Biology at the University of Connecticut, Joe resumed his studies at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 2007. He worked as a youth pastor at a Korean church in Connecticut, as well as being heavily involved in the campus ministry at UConn. Joe moved to New York City in 2010 with his wife Helen to join as staff for RUF City Campus Ministry, and has worked with college students Downtown since then. Although he is a native of Korea and rival Boston, Joe is happy to be in New York. When he is not working, Joe likes to spend time with his wife and his son Allan.

Tim Keller, serving as Senior Pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, will be rotating equally through all of the worship services of Redeemer East Side, West Side and Downtown on the weeks when he is in New York. John Lin, serving as Lead Pastor of Redeemer Downtown, will be preaching at Downtown worship services when Tim Keller is not available.
